7 Metal slug games + Multiplayer = Amazing
Reviewed by benkosar on March 26, 2008 | report this review
Wow. All 7 Metal slug games, arcade perfect. Well, almost. There's a couple seconds between screens of loading time, and it's a touch slow loading. But it's an amazing value.
Games are workable (From Metal slug 1) to WTF-crazy hard (Metal slug 4) but there's one thing that's certain: Metal Slug is king of the shooter and can stand toe to toe with Contra on NES, and Contra 3 on SNES.
Fast paced 2d side-scrolling action with so much going on sometimes, your franticly mashing the fire buttons. There's strategy in the play, however there's unlimited 'quarters' too, unlimited continues. Metal slug is easily the most intense arcade game series of it's time. It's arcade perfect. There's multiplayer, there's extras, but even with just the games, it's awesome. Metal slug 1, 2, X (remake of 1), 3, 4, 5, & 6 (An evolution in itself. 6 playable chars, switch weapons on the fly, different char traits, just..wow).
The fact is, it's easy to pick up and play. Perfect for portable frenzied play. Only one thing remains to say: You must own Metal Slug Anthology if you ever get the chance.
One thing that is especially nice, it has a 4:3 with great graphics, original, which gives the original aspect which looks fantastic, or full, which streches the image full screen 16x9, which is a little strange, but workable. Personally, I use 4:3.
