Somewhat of a flop in my book!

I had very high hopes when I heard they were creating a Command & Conquer title for the 360. If I recall correctly, I nearly spit my soda out when I first was told by a pal-o-mine at a kid's Bday party. "You're &%itin'!" I proclaimed, but he quickly verified his claim with proof in the form of an internet ad. Anyway, I picked up a copy at the local BB and took it home to have my way with it. Unfortunately, I quickly became tired of the training section of the game and found myself rushing into some single player action. I managed to figure out the controls without a problem but was quite upset to experience how primative the game felt. I don't know why exactly but I somewhat expected it to remind me of the PC versions I'd played in years past. This expectation was far from being met as I soon found while my play progressed. After an hour or so of constant gameplay, I just had to put down the controller. Strategy seems to play much less of a role in this release when compared to previous versions. The intricacies I so loved from previous titles also seemed to be nonexistent in #3. The graphics were acceptable and dare I say possibly an improvement over previous PC titles but nothing spectacular. Gameplay was interesting but far to easy I felt. I'm sure most will argue that this game really shines on XBL but I never got that far. In the end, I returned it the same night and picked up Forza 2 instead. NOW THAT'S A GAME!!! In conclusion, Command & Conquer 3 is an understandable must have for the serious RTS gamer's portfolio. Afterall, there aren't many games like this available for the 360 platform, much less consoles in general. I'm guessing the online play is as enjoyable as most claim but since I didn't give it a try I'll refrain from making further comments. I would in no way recommend paying retail or even a GS or EB used price for this one but grabbing one on a trade would at least ensure you're not throwing your $ away before testing the waters. Thanks for reading!

Nod vs. GDI Hint
Hint by eul0gy on July 01, 2007 | report this hint
If you're playing against GDI and you're NOD, you might be thinking, "I'm @%#ed", but don't worry, there's hope yet!
If you know the GDI guy is building mass mammoths, then there's an easy way to trick the mammoths. Simply build as many ground laser turrets(NOT OBLEISKS), and as many of the cloaking devices as you need to completely make the main turret builders be invisible. Once you get this done, start building lots of planes.
Whenever the mammoths attack, they will get confused, and simply sit there attacking the turrets, waiting for them to rebuild, and attacking them again. All the while you're collecting tiberium, getting more powerful and more planes, AND taking out his mammoths.
Easy easy easy!
