the best burnout in the series by far. if you like intense driving action mixed with hardcore crashes this is a must have.
Disappointing

My first thought was how much this made me want to play Revenge. So many of the fun elements were removed from the game it's a shadow of itself. It feels a lot like when the Tony Hawk series made the move to Underground. The idea of a giant immersive world is intriguing, but so was Shenmue. It ends up being just a crummy menu essentially where you have to drive to the next race instead of simply picking it off a menu.
My life is better now that this game is gone

I traded it away this morning and there is this great sense of calm in my soul. You see, Revenge was maybe my favorite 360 game. Maybe my favorite racer ever. It was near perfect. Not realistic, but who wants that? Each race was beautiful chaos. That's the problem here. Risk no longer equals reward. Burnout Paradise is the Alien 3 of this series.
The most frustrating aspect of this game is you're better off playing it safe to really pushing the envelope. Because, unless you memorize every inch of the CITY (not track like the previous game, here there is no track), you're doomed to catch some pointless extention to a guard rail here, a side mirror on a parked car there, etc. trying to avoid a non-combative car in your way that you no longer can rear end and use as a pinball physics weapon on the other drivers. Nope, here everything is death. Now I'm pro death and like hard games, but the best offense in this game isn't mayhem, it's Sunday driving. Casually drive around without turbo unless you're trying to force a car off the road. It terrible.
Marked Man makes no sense because you can't actually LOSE the cars chasing you, they just pop up. So why go fast? Just drive carefully, it's not like time is a factor. Rampage? Again, the enemy cars don't get you 90% of the time, some random bystander does. So why go fast?
Maybe that this game's greatest flaw. It's ironically repetitious. The events all feel the same. The cars all feel the same. You just change cars as another time killer (drive to the junkyard) so that you have one that doesn't die on two hits or will spin around in a Stunt event. This formally was accomplished by selecting the car before the race as a menu. MUCH FUNNER! Thanks guys. Given, chasing down cars and crashing them to "earn" them between event is fun... but that's all you do. So again, boring fast and better when it was called Rampage with eight other cars.
I like the Technical merits of this game and understand why they felt this was the "next step", which keeps me from giving it a 1. But this game should be a warning like Tony Hawk Underground and Shemue that walking/driving/skating from event to event is not in itself a good game. GTA was good because the mini-games were varied and the stealing/killing/rooming "menu" had it's own charms. Burnout does not for the most part.
Best racing game by far besides prostreet

Burnout Paradise is a preeeeety good game. A new feature, that people may like or dislike, is that you may roam around the city and cruise. However, this means that you must actually drive around the city to find somebody to race. Also, once you win a car, you can not drive it away. You need to drive to a certain part of the city and report to the junkyard first. This actually gets EXTREMELY annoying because it seams like i need to drive across a huge maze just to find out that i won a CRAPPY CAR! They could at least put the junkyard in the middle of the city instead of placing the piece of junk on the complete side of the town, with only one road to get to it, and away from anything that you would be driving near. Also, races are very easy sometimes. Games are getting WAY too easy these days and this is a very good example. A newborn baby with a knife through his brain and the wire to the controller cut in half could win a car in this burnout. It's ridiculous how easily i win races sometimes. Its not like i am a great player. I only had one Burnout before this (Burnout Revenge) came out. Citron games and EA sports really needs to improve on how difficult the game is. Something that pisses me off is that there is NO MULTIPLAYER unless you go online. ARE YOU SERIOUS EA SPORTS!!!!!????? YOU SUCK!!!! Me and a few friends would always come over my house when it rained, and we would always get on the XBOX 360 and play some multiplayer races. I EXPECTED AN UPGRADE ON THAT!!! And what is there? NOTHING! i gotta tell you, that is complete bull. How you could take the traditional multiplayer road rages, crash parties, and absolute demolition with friends out of Burnout, I'm not sure. But i do know that EA sports are SQUISHY FACE RETARDS for doing it. I had never been disappointed with EA before, and they really do make great games... but c'mon! I do think this is a downgrade from Burnout Revenge. The ONE AND ONLY THING THAT IS BETTER ABOUT BURNOUT PARADISE IS...the music. No, im not kidding. I love it. Guns N' Roses is finally getting more respect for how great they are. I LOVE CLASSIC ROCK...AND ANY ROCK... and they do have a good mix on it. A lot better than sam spance on Madden 08. BYE GOTTA GO!
