Very unique mech fighter.

This game is above all very unique. The graphics are pretty good. The mechs look pretty good, but environment looks dull. Gameplay isgood, the only problem is that the mechs are very slow. In this game you get to create your own mech choosing from hundreds of parts. The single player is horrible and very boring. Its all about online becuase they made a neat system that makes it like a war. In online you choose a side, there are 3 sides (tarakia, morskoj, and sal kar) you fight in different locations and try to take the most points on the map. The cool thing is, its like a massive multiplayer war, but only 12 players per battle.
I recommend this game if you like mechs. If you dont have online then dont get this becuase the mech creation in single player is EXTREMELY limited.

I've played a lot of Mech games, but this takes the gold prize. What sets this apart from other games like Armored Core is you really need to think of strategy while customizing your hound. There are a TON of parts and combinations in this game. It's very easy to design your own unique hound (mech).
This game practically has no offline gameplay at all. The details on the back of the box are inaccurate as well. It lists offline system-link, etc. but it actually has none. This game is for Live only. Because of that and the inaccurate details on the box, I give this a 3.

A game with persistent online battles, giant robots, tons of customization, and explosions. What more could gamers ask for?

July 12, 2006 - Quite a bit, it turns out. The Xbox 360's first mechanized combat game developed by From Software is finally on store shelves. Boasting single player and extensive online modes, myriad customization options, and flashy explosions, Chromehounds certainly seems like it could be a worthwhile gaming experience. After playing through, however, a number of problems became apparent that keep this one from being as good as it could have been. Though some Xbox 360 gamers may have been drooling at the opportunity to finally hop in a mech and blast missiles every which way, it's hard to call playing Chromehounds a satisfying gaming experience.
Before going any further, it needs to be said that Chromehounds is essentially an online game. If you don't have access Xbox Live, you're going to want to stay far away from this one. It's not for lack of single player content that Chromehounds fails; it's just that it's incredibly boring to play through. Offered are six, seven mission campaigns, each focusing on specific mech Role Types (RT). Split up into degrees of difficulty, players will play as a Scout, Defender, Soldier, Heavy Gunner, Commander and Sniper. Each RT campaign, despite being surrounded by story and filled with numerous characters, falls flat.
The game provides plenty of backstory for the entire wartime scenario. It centers on a conflict known as the Neroimus War, a battle between the nations of Sal Kar, Tarakia, and Morskoj. However, the war has yet to break out in the single player campaigns. Instead, they detail the period leading up to all out fighting. Players take on the role of a mercenary unit called Rafzakael. With an allegiance to no particular region, players assist each of the three nations with quelling various terrorist uprisings, all amidst whispers of war. This kind of narrative setup leads on to one of the single player story mode's problems: a lack of engaging elements. Each campaign has its own set of characters, but they're all so flat and clich¿d there's never a time where you verge on caring for any of them. Even with a detailed historical timeline and character profiles, it fails to generate interest. Since the game forces you to hop between national allegiances, it's impossible to maintain any kind of vested interest in how a region fares.

Good MECH game for 360

At first glance when i saw this game i thought the makers of mechassault were at it again, but this time a title for the 360. I am a huge fan of mech fighting games like this espically mechassault, so this game had alot to live up to in my mind.
The game had me hooked from the very beginning, when i played the first tutorial i was like, whoa, this is nice, again looked like mechassault, but in and itself, totally different. Its awesome how they split up the types of hounds like soldier, sniper, and heavy gunner. The first minute i played it, to me it was very hard to put down. Espically after every mission you'd get a part and 2 parts if you got S rank on the mission. Some of those bonus objectives were awkward but still fairly easy to accomplish. The only downside to this game it you have to have alot of patience to play it because they basically incorporated real world physics to the max. Meaning, a meavy hound takes a long time to move. Especially the heavy gunners, they were better for defending then moving, even thought one of the mission requires alot of movement. Sniper and Heavy GUnner have been my specialities so far, even though i have made a very powerful soldier hound as well. Now the multiplayer, i have barely tapped the surface of this one, it a whole new setup compared to what i am normally used to. War Zones, different factions fighting, its a crazy setup but addictingly fun if you get the hang of it all. I just read a review by a guy burning on the graphics not being "next gen.' i'd like to be shown what next gen graphics should look like on here cause this game has immense graphics, at least in the terran and hound sense, they are very well detailed and the movement mechainics are awesome as well. Overall, I love this game in it enitrity, its just a hard game to get used to since I am used to very fast paced ones. Its a good break just a very hard adjustment.
