Mediocre shooter

Reviewed by benkosar on February 21, 2008  |  report this review

This isn't a terribly deep game. There's some differnt fighters available (Oooh, look..different paint schemes!). Other than that, it's a mediocre shooter that isn't particuarly memorable. Buy something R-typeish or Gradius-ish if your a shooter fan, for this is far from.

You'll be through this in no-time unless your less then apt at shooters. Took me all of a few hours before I was done. OK for trips if you don't have anything better, but there are better games that use the liscence, at least Robotech: battlecry is prettier.

One suggestion: The PS1 and Sega Saturn import Super Dimension Fortress: Macross shooter is a macross shooter done right. 2 CD's of pure shooter action. You don't need to know japanese to play, and there's cutscenes (Okay, those are in japanese) that are based from the Macross movie, completely reanimated. If you want a nice shooter fix, consider that game (Even if emulated!). There's also the Cho Jinku Yosai Macross(Probably spelled that wrong, it's translated to Macross: Scramble Valkrie). It's a japense SNES game, where you can choose 3 different chars/planes, each have different weapons and upgrades. Intense, very good shooter as well. Easily emulated.
