Okay

It's a good game, but the story sucks. You move very slowly and there aren't any wild Pokemon. Some of the good aspects of the previous games are not included; eg, gym leaders and the elite 4. The graphics are good, though.

Best Pokemon game on the Gamcube (other then maybe xd)

This is an amazing game.
To start, you are given the role of a ex-member of team snagem, an evil organization which use a machine called the "snag machine" steal the pokemon of others. You take there portable snag machine, which slides on your arm, and run off with your to pokemon.
They are Espeon and Umbreon.
Now, team snagem is after you and there machine.
The plot is to snag the shadow pokemon distrbuted and owned by team snagem. in your 3-D adventure, you are aided by a girl named "rui" whom you rescue early on in the game.
she has the uncanny ability to tell shadow pokemon from real ones. with her help, your goal is to snag all the shadow pokemon and purify them.
When you catch shadow pokemon you can "open the door to their heart". Once you do, you can purify them, level them up, and trade them to your GBA pokemon game.
You can also send pkm from your GBA game to colosseum. it's fun to be able to see your pokemon come to life in this 3-D game. you can also battle one the big screen using your game-boy as a controller. you can battle your GBA pokemon against the ones in the game, or have a battle with two GBAs on your tv! =)

Not as fun as the other Pokémon games

Allow me to go over all my grievances with this game.
1. There's this annoying girl who follows you around everywhere. It's like Pokémon Yellow, only worse.
2. You move realy slowly and there's no bike.
3. There are no routes. You go from city to city by means of a cutscene. So much for the intrepid adventurer.
4. There are no wild Pokémon, and very few shadow Pokémon to snag. This strongly detracts from the team customization element so beloved in the series.
5. In addition, shadow Pokémon can't level up until they're purified, and leveling up is fun.
6. The storyline is riddled with gaping plotholes. For example, Pokémon seem to always follow their masters' orders, even if their master is evil. So why does Cipher need to alter their genetics to make them do evil things? All they'd need to do is order them to bite someone. Voila.
7. The Pokémon don't really attack each other. It's like, one Pokémon shoots a blast of fire out in front of them. Then it cuts to a shot of another pokémon being hit by a blast of fire. There's no real interaction.

On the bright side, you do get to wear a cool cape. But that can't really rescue the game from mediocrity.

good

the storyline was great but kinda short, there aren't any wild pokemon to catch and the only good way to train is mt. battle, but even when you get to the end, you still dont have enough pokecoupons for a berry, which annoyed me, but the good part is that when you beat it you can trade gold/silver/crystal pokemon to ruby/sapphire and then after you get the national dex in diamond/pearl you have up to 48 more pokemon, so all in all its an ok game but if you want something a bit better get xd: gale of darkness
