Based on the Japanese number puzzle, Kakuro is like a numbers crossword puzzle solved by logic with an added twist of basic calculations to guide gameplay. The Kakuro grid has strategically placed diagonal slashes with numbers representing Up and Down column clues. The puzzle is solved by filling in the rest of the squares with numbers to equal the clue total without repeating numbers, replacing traditional word clues found in crossword puzzles.
