The Most Indepth Game Yet?

Reviewed by Hage-Oji-Sama on January 31, 2008  |  report this review

This game is truly stunning... Besthesda have really outdone themselves this time. Oblivion is focused in the same realm as the previous Elder Scrolls game, Morrowind, but this time in the kingdom of Cyrodil. You begin as a prisoner in the imperial jail, arrested for an unknown reason. Your chance for escape comes when the emperor Urial Septium, must escape from the castle... through your cell.

Oblivion allows the player to chose everything about their character, allowing them to style them completely, unlike the other Elder Scrolls. You then chose or make a class, and get started. The in depth game play allows you to become a thief, a noble warrior, an arena fighter, or an outlaw. Every NPC (non player character) has their own schedule, and life, having to eat and sleep among other daily functions. The enemies have a highly complex combat structure, allowing them to react to their surroundings, running to a near by guard if attacked, or the nearest weapon.

All in all oblivion is one of the most in depth games of this year or the next, offering over three days of playtime. This game is a complete must have for any avid adventure gamer.

Game in general

As Hage-Oji-Sama has said, the game is truly stunning. When Morrowind came out I was stunned with the graphics of it, but with Oblivion, I was truly stunned. The enviroments are truly stunning and not to mention the face masking when talking to one of the characters. Character development is truly stunning from being able to choose what your character looks like, including the color of hair to the size of your forehead to the shape of your chin.... The game is truly amazing and Bethesda really outdid themselves. The only part missing that could make the game any better would be an online function, but I'm not complaining, the game is just great!

Great Sequel

Reviewed by proskier on April 15, 2008  |  report this review

Normally when a sequel is released it is either very different from it's predecessors or doesn't go at all. Oblivion takes up right where Morrowind left off with some improvements. Most noticeably the ability to travel great distances from the map screen takes the tedium out of many quests. However, by travelling on foot or horseback you see more of the game and the many places you can adventure. This game has so much depth and it can be replayed over and over. This game definenitely stays in my top 5 favorites of all time!!!!
