Pretty good

The graphics in this game is cell shaded so thats already if you like it, or you dont. The story is pretty good, the game play is like any other turn-based RPG, and the weapons and stuff, are pretty good. This game is pretty tough though, so dont expect to charge in and beat it, it will give you a challenge. It kinda reminds me of a better verison of Dark Cloud. The downfall is the voice over, its with british voice overs why i dont know. The other complat is that its rated teen but the monsters, and the actions seem to be for kids, and make it bad to get past the inmature BS, but I would avise to rent it before buying.

I played this game a while ago and loved it. I really enjoyed the cell-shaded graphics, I thought they were stunning and fit the story really well. The main story was a little predictable with very few surprises but was very well done. For every serious moment in the game, there seemed to be a few humorous moments to lighten the mood a bit. The game also does a pretty good job of providing background information on the main characters. I actually thought the voice acting was really well done in the game, in other games I've played there was very little emotion in the characters when they spoke or if there was, they expressed it at the wrong time in their speech.
The battle system is very straight forward, a classic turn-based battle system. One thing I noticed was some enemies are hard to hit, I've never missed so many attacks in a game before. For the most part you can go in swinging, but there are moments were this will get you into some problems, or at least it did for me. This game has a lot to offer as I spent about 70 hours playing it and could have spent a lot more. Their are tons of extras outside the main story to keep you busy for a while with item creation, the moster arena and the hidden dungeon.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who has any interest in RPGs.
not so many dragons, more quest

The game is over 150 hours long. There is really no need to play it over when you beat it but it will take almost 250 hours to beat everything. I haven't even beaten it yet. The game is like a mix of zelda, pokemon and dragonball z. Keep in mind the only similarity between this and dbz is how people look in the game so anyone who likes turn based swordplay i highly recommend you buy this game and anyone who doesn't then trade me for it!
One of the Best RPGs to Land in a Long Time!!!

Dragon Quest VIII (DQVIII) Is one of the greatest RPGs of all time. DQVIII features beautiful cel-shaded artwork, which is like a living, breathing, cartoon that you get to control. A massive story, spectacular enemies, and huge dungeons, all supported by a brillant musical score is what makes DQVII outstanding. The world DQVIII is set in is huge as well. Youll spend over 200 hours discovering everything DQVIII has to offer.
Somewhat of a typical RPG Stroyline, you know, Young Hero must stop the Bad guy to save the princess and the castle. While it may seem like a typical story, DQVIII tells it like no other. A true must play for any RPG fan.
great game
