The Best Final Fantasy Ever!
Reviewed by drkansm on April 19, 2007 | report this review
Aside from the Dirge of Cerberus (FFVII) for the PS2, This game is truly the best to modern day. This is also a special game being the last FF game for the PS2 as the rest are PS3 exclusives.
The Battle system is totally different as it is snail paced but you don't change screens. It's much less of a pain for extreme gamers. (That 0.5 seconds is a long wait every 5 steps. I know.) Also this is a challenging game and the Side Quests are the best. Truly a great game for the ages.

Open all treasure chests in the game except the following:
1. Treasure chest in Lowtown, outside of Old Dylan's place.
2. When sneaking into the palace (before getting the Goddess Tear), there are several chests in the Cellar. Do not open the two chests in the southeast corner.
3. All treasure chests in the Confiscatory (the place where you get your weapons and armor back after being captured).
4. In the Phon Coast, later in the game, there is an island with sixteen chests all near each other. The fourth chest among all sixteen must not be opened, so it is best not to open any of them. They only contain Gil.
Then, go to the Necrohol of Nabudis to find the most powerful weapon in the game, the Zodiac Spear. It has a +150 Attack with +8 Evasion.
best game ever

This was an excellent game. But I felt like it wasn't the best. Not to criticize FF Xll I though the graphics were exceptional, story line was great, the Espers were very intriguing along with the side quest and weapons. It's just that I kinda missed the old fashion battle style( for thous who have played FF, you understand what I'm talking about). Also, in previous FF games the ending would have much more intensity to it. The music for one, would give you a feeling of not wanting it to end. The ending storyline would have the same effect on you too. But, again, this IS my opinion, and I am not criticizing FF whatsoever. It was over all excellent and although a few thing were missing I still continue to say this was a GREAT GAME!
The BEST game I've ever played.

I think the title explains it all.
A Must Have Game!

When you see or hear the words "Final Fantasy" you know you are in for an adventurous game filled with sidequests, well written story, and lots of interesting villains, creatures, and battles. This latest installment definitely deserves it's title.
The only critique I truly have for this game is a minor one. The battle system takes a little getting used to. While it actually made my gameplay more easier, it took a looooong time (and a lot of dying) to figure out how and when to effectively use it best. Once the player figures out which techniques (or "gambits" as they are called in game) and which order to place them in to effectively win a battle, the player has to change them again to fight a different battle.
I am a very diligent and detail oriented gamer, so while all of the rearranging 'gambits" provided me with plenty of interaction and strategy, it also got very tedious to deal with at times. Still, this little qualm does nothing to hinder the games enjoyment. If you're a FF fan (need I even say this) Get the game.
FF ftw!

Wow, when I first got this game, I was like, "wow, final fantasy. It has slowly desensitized me to the real meaning of 'final'." "Final" meaning "last" and yet here we are at number twelve, now going on thirteen! Final Fantasy has really come a long way. As a fan, of course I'm gonna give it a good rating, but as a gamer, I'd give it a four stars. I love the graphics, it's totally awsome (lol) but I have to say, I was a littlw lost at first. The first time I played it and was in Rabanastre, I lost my way and for a good thirty minutes I was just running around, not knowing where I was, trying to get my bearings. So, the graphics are so kick-sas that you can even get lost like in a real city! lol So I guess you can say that it's needing a better map for while you're moving, but other than that, marvelous, just marvelous. As far as characters, I have to say, my favorite of them all would have to be Fran. Not only is she the coolest chick on there, but she's also a kick-sas bunny-rabbit-chick-girl-thing-viera-however-you-spell-it. lol I still don't see how she fights in bar hooker shoes and a stripper outfit though. I guess Balthier is right, she does know the men well. Btw, coolest guy in the whole game, I'd have to say Balthier, he's just to awsome to second place. Aside from being a sky pirate, he's just so....so.....aloof and cool. Ok, I've got to stop reviewing, I think I've hit 200 characters now. ^_^

When i first got this game i was like "OMG SQUARE ENIX ya'll did a really good job with the graphics!" But then when i beat the game i thought they shoulda done a better story line and make it a bit longer. Since i bought the guide book along with the game i didnt have much of a problem with the undieing (the last boss). But that and using it for hunts i didnt use it.
So my review is a 5 of 5 stars

Just an absolute blast to play. If you like FF, there is no reason not to have this one.
The 1st and maybe the best!!!
This is the only final fantasy game i have ever played and is by far the best RPG. This is the final fantasy that has gotten me hooked o the series. The storyline is what really made me like this game so much. The weapons and the masive amount of gameplay and unlockables will have you playing for hours. I reccomend this game to anyone who loves RPG games.
