In Call of Duty 3, get closer than ever to the fury of combat as an Allied soldier in World War II’s most harrowing military operation, the Normandy Breakout Campaign. Melee combat and destructible cover bring you face-to-face with German forces. Multiple attack routes mean you decide whether to flank your enemy or hit him head on. Varied terrain, next-gen graphics and sound, and a dramatic story deliver Call of Duty’s signature cinematic intensity.

i own the ps3 and out of all the games i have ever played call of duty 3 was very unique. using the 6-axis controller you can do motions to do melee attacks. plus when you are driving you tilt the controller to steer the car. overall i had one great time playing this game and i must say it was amazingly put together.
ok...

I had high hopes for this game after playing COD2:Big Red One until the disc wore out....and fortunately, I wasn't let down. I love this game just as much! It doesn't take long in the single player game for you to get thrown into chaos. There is nothing better than when you're pinned down and bullets are flying everywhere...yet you always seem to find the way out.
Multiplayer play is also a blast although there are WAY too many glitches that people take advantage of. I guess they don't really know what fun is.
Get this game!

This game is awesome i do not kno y the f the last person who gave this game a review said it was not great.
Alright Game
The gameplay is awesome, but the problem I had with it was how you couldn't skip the scenes. SIXAXIS was used in sweet ways for example diffusing a bomb. I just wished you had the ability to chat during online play.
nice

really great graphics, just like all the ps3 games. i like the fact that you can be many different armies and i loved how the motion censor controller was utilized in this game. i also liked the accuracyof the battles. they warcries were one of the few things that really got on my nerves, i mean , after 15 minutes of hearing german soldiers scream something that sounds like "Marshmallow!!!!" it gets kinda annoying.

A branch slightly from the usual COD guidelines. More movie-like cinematic actions and cutscenes with a story. Good enemy density, and the difficulty isn't overwhelming, unless you play on Veteran. Slightly different graphical style than that of Call of Duty 2, but then again it was made by a whole different team. Looks great though, and plays well. The health system of course, is my favorite. Like Halo 2, the lack of a "life bar", and regenerating health make for less breaks in the combat. Good variety of weapons, some i haven't seen in any other WWII shooters. They all look and sound great, though you still can't reload the M1 Garand mid-clip. Short driving segments are alright, though not as fun as they could be. Don't even try driving with the Sixaxis too. Sure, it looks cool. No. Other breaks from the shooting include spotting targets for tanks, which you did while driving in COD2, and being in control of a mortar team.
The multiplayer is probably the best part though. Good-sized maps and support for up to 24 players make for large-scale battles that are definitely enjoyable. Vehicles have been added online, but only the tanks are worth it. Theres also the two person motorcycle, and a three person jeep, but they're near useless. No real night-time maps though, which would've been fun.
All-in-all, its not a must-buy but if your a fan of WWII its definitely worth it. The only advantage of the 360 version is the downloadable map packs, which i hope will hit PSN sometime. If you are a 360 owner though, download the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare beta now!

Through the eyes of four Allied soldiers, Call of Duty 3 brings players closer than ever to the fury of combat as they fight through the Normandy Breakout, the harrowing offensive that liberated Paris and changed the fate of the world.
In Call of Duty 3, new close-quarters battle mechanics bring you face-to-face with your enemy. Fight hand-to-hand, disarm traps, improvise explosive devices and execute a host of other battlefield challenges that require cunning and swift reflexes. Next-generation level design provides multiple attack routes that let you decide how to confront the enemy. Each choice you make requires you to use special tactics, from sniping and demolition to straight out frontal assaults. And in online multiplayer battles of up to 24 players, gamers battle it out as a variety of player classes, including riflemen, infantry, scouts and others. Multiple-occupancy vehicles let you coordinate attacks with friends, driving while they fire a mounted machine gun from the turret.
Not to be judged by the previous COD releases

Initially, I played COD2 on XBOX 360 and from there on out I've been hunting down and playing all the games I can find out of the franchise. I do have to say though that this port of COD3 to PS3 was a somewhat disappointing venture.
With all COD games I've played thus far, COD3 for PS3 stays with the theme of good story, great map design, and period authenticity that gives the game that unique appeal most first person shooters lack. If you're like me and you've already played through and finished COD2 and other COD games (Big Red One, Finest Hour, Etc.), you'll find that this game lacks the graphical and performance consistency you've been used to.
Numerous game "glitches" have been found that range from getting stuck behind object in the map, going off map, and phantom AI spawning out of nowhere. The online play is a nice time killer but doesn't, by any means, define this game. The lack of 2-way audio in online play was somewhat of a disappointment but from what I've read you can count on that feature being present in COD4.
If you've never touched the COD series of games then this would be a decent start for PS3 owners. If you're coming from a COD2 on XBOX 360 impression, don't expect a like match in game play and graphical consistency.
If you can, hold out just a wee bit longer for COD4 and you'll thank me later. :)
