Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Reviewed by C_for_Vendetta on September 25, 2007  |  report this review

The fourth in a long running Splinter Cell series. The first game as one of the hardest games I've ever played, and Double Agent is almost on par with that. Definitely a beautiful game. Movie-worthy storyline with some kick-ass twists. Being a double agent, you have to constantly maintain a certain amount of trust with the NSA and the terrorists, which is leveled by completing objectives. It's fun in certain levels but in the midsegments when your in the terrorists base it gets annoying. SO many things to do in so little time, and if you doing anything remotely suspicious the terrorists kill you. The real missions though are a blast. Smarter and deadlier AI make sneaking more challenging than ever. Honestly, this game scares me more than F.E.A.R. or BioShock, to be honest. When your hanging from a thin wire 200 feet off the ground, a small catwalk below you, and under that a nuke with a 3 minute timer, guards watching every corner of the room, and one patrolling directly underneath you, and everything is dead silent it gets pretty intense. You're overloaded with gadgets though, half i never use, so your prepared for anything.

The multiplayer is less fun and realistic as in Chaos Theory, but is still passable. Your spy moves faster than ever, and scales mile-high walls in seconds. The mercs also have a myriad of ways to track the spies down, which tends not to be very noob-friendly. If you want a good Spies vs Mercs match, i suggest you downgrade t Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, though.
