Soul Nomad & The World Eaters

Awesome Tactics Game on December 21, 2007

From the studio that brought you Disgaea Hour of Darkness and Disgaea 2 Cursed Memories comes a new epic game of mass proportions. In Soul Nomad you play as a child that is raised in a hidden city until a witch believes you are ready to wield the blade of darkness. When the game starts the witch gives the sword which contains the soul of an alien that was sent to destroy the world. His soul merges with your soul in your body and the two of you are constantly fighting for control. You need his power to save the world and he wants your body to destroy it.

The game play 9/10 - You use a style similar to the disgaea series however each unit on the map is actually a group of 4-9 character. All of which you control together as a team. Depending on which row you put the characters in they have different predetermined attacks that they perform. Mixing different units creates combination attacks that you can use after the group has fought in a few battles together in a single map. These are usually really powerful and cool looking. I give it a 9 out of 10 because the way you set up the characters in groups is really annoying. They basically give you a random "room" with certain square you can place your members in and you are forced to keep getting new ones over and over until you get one you like. If you can just do it unlimited times why not just let you pick? My second complain is that sometimes the store runs out of goods. They have ours of side quest but the stores only refill if you do more of the main story. That just doesn't make any sense.

Sound 10/10 - Good voice actors and none of the music is annoying

Graphics 10/10 - great for its time. It's made to look a little anime-ish so unless you don't like that you will think it's great for a PS2 title.

Replay - Very Very High - With the whole new game plus you can keep your whole party and all your items and their levels and start over. You won't be that high of level when you beat the game, however you can get higher and higher I don't think you hit a level cap until level 9999. plus every time through they open up new things and new side quests!

Overall - A very sweet game. Good luck finding a copy though. Like the Disgaea games they just didn't release enough copies to satisfy the gamers.
