Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
Somewhat of a flop in my book! on March 06, 2008
I had very high hopes when I heard they were creating a Command & Conquer title for the 360. If I recall correctly, I nearly spit my soda out when I first was told by a pal-o-mine at a kid's Bday party. "You're &%itin'!" I proclaimed, but he quickly verified his claim with proof in the form of an internet ad. Anyway, I picked up a copy at the local BB and took it home to have my way with it. Unfortunately, I quickly became tired of the training section of the game and found myself rushing into some single player action. I managed to figure out the controls without a problem but was quite upset to experience how primative the game felt. I don't know why exactly but I somewhat expected it to remind me of the PC versions I'd played in years past. This expectation was far from being met as I soon found while my play progressed. After an hour or so of constant gameplay, I just had to put down the controller. Strategy seems to play much less of a role in this release when compared to previous versions. The intricacies I so loved from previous titles also seemed to be nonexistent in #3. The graphics were acceptable and dare I say possibly an improvement over previous PC titles but nothing spectacular. Gameplay was interesting but far to easy I felt. I'm sure most will argue that this game really shines on XBL but I never got that far. In the end, I returned it the same night and picked up Forza 2 instead. NOW THAT'S A GAME!!! In conclusion, Command & Conquer 3 is an understandable must have for the serious RTS gamer's portfolio. Afterall, there aren't many games like this available for the 360 platform, much less consoles in general. I'm guessing the online play is as enjoyable as most claim but since I didn't give it a try I'll refrain from making further comments. I would in no way recommend paying retail or even a GS or EB used price for this one but grabbing one on a trade would at least ensure you're not throwing your $ away before testing the waters. Thanks for reading!
Need for Speed Carbon
Great Arcade Racer...maybe the best! on March 06, 2008
I've always enjoyed the fast-paced blurred reality of NFS titles but this one is by far my fav! Everyone knows of the autosculpt feature and it's supreme kewlness but I'm giddy over the online game modes. I've never had so much fun with an arcade-style racer online as with NFS Carbon. The Pursuit Tag is without a doubt super-kewl and with Pursuit Knockout as a new addition as well, you're sure to keep busy bustin' for hours at a time. The Canyon duels are, of course, great fun and a superb test of one's crash avoidance skillz! I was also very happy to see that Drifting has returned to the series! All in all I was very happy with this used game purchase from GS. I, as always, refuse to pay the new-retail price so I have no comments regarding the game in new condition and the contents included. Thanks for reading no go trade for this sucker!
The Outfit
I really enjoyed this one! on March 06, 2008
I was very pleased with the purchase made from GS in used condition for $14.99. Although gameplay and graphics are by no means super-killer, I still enjoyed the single player mission and found myself really getting into the 3rd person based combat with my fellow AI buddies. The voiceover is pretty hilarious and the ability to choose different characters during battles (or at least during spawn) is pretty nifty. My 7 year old plays this one with me in coop and vs. mode as there's not really any blood or gore. For the most part I was unimpressed with online play as most competition seemed to be way less than skilled enough to present a challenge! Granted, this no fault of the game itself but if it's been out this long and the online players suck, what's the point of going further, if not to simply slaughter them! Hmmm...on second thought!
As I said, this games got a fairly challenging single player campaign and coop or vs. mode with a buddy can be fun. Pick this one up used or as a trade and you'll be pleased with what you get for your time/$.
Destroy All Humans!
Not bad I guess... on March 06, 2008
I rented this game quite a few months back, when I used to have the original XBOX, and I have to say I rather enjoyed it. Although there's a story line and you an alien out to save his brother, I found the most fun to be had was in simply running around shelling out anal probes and hipnotizing unsuspecting bots. What more could you ask for in a game about alien invasion. The main character is very cute and yet has some killer power. I never completed the game but for the few days I had it I thoroughly enjoyed it. Since DAH 2 came out, this game can be had from Wally World for $9.99 in new condition. Well worth it if you ask me!

Gears of War
This game just ROCKS! on March 06, 2008
WOW! Wait...did you catch that? I'll say it again...WOW! This game just rocks! The first game I picked up for my 360 ($40 in Feb/2007 on fleabay new), and probably the only game I ever needed, GOW impressed the hell out of me. Incredible graphics and imagery, wonderful story line, an amazing array of weaponry, super-cool voice over, and probably the best (except for Halo 2) online gaming experience I've ever had.
I wish there was something negative I could say but I just can't think of anything. If you've yet to play this game and you're okay with third person shooters, GO GET IT NOW!!!
Fight Night Round 3
I don't like boxing games but I like this one! on March 06, 2008
Traded this one with a friend recently and I have to say, I'm very happy with the game overall! Both the guy who traded with me and another friend mentioned how difficult the game could be and how they'd both given up way before they'd progressed significantly in the game. I, on the other hand, have enjoyed the gameplay very much. I don't find it to be unusually hard and have managed to progress quite far. Of course, it's a challenging game but isn't that the point? There's a difficulty level which can be adjusted if one feels the game is just too tough but I wouldn't recommend going at it too easy. Half the enjoyment of the game is overcoming the challenge it presents. The slow-mo haymaker head shot replays are super-cool. Graphics overall are okay and as expected for the platform. The training requirement presented before each fight could be more interesting. The purses could be more. But otherwise, it's a great investment. I'm guessing this one could be found at the local GS or EB for $20-$25 too so it won't put a hurtin' on your wallet. Thanks for reading!
Halo 3
Best of the Bunch! on March 06, 2008
THIS GAME ROCKS!
What more can I say? I tell you "what more"! From the very beginning of my journey through normal play I was amazed. Not at the graphics or the story line or the difficulty, etc... but amazed at my attraction to the game overall. I received the game at 8AM on Saturday before launch as a prize from Pontiac's "First To Own" Promotion. By 8:30 I had it up and running and could not stop, no matter how hard I tried, simply could not stop playing!!! My bladder was completely full of coffee which I had been drinking nonstop in an attempt to wake up. But to the bathroom I did NOT go. Once I got into the game, learned the new button assignments, and familiarized myself with the map's surroundings, gameplay was smooth as ice. I even took time to walk around and admire the improvements over Halo 2 such as the incredibly smooth edging on shapes and game items, to the detail highly evident on the enemy characters such as the brutes and others. As I progressed through the game, I felt myself getting super excited about the possibility of finishing the game. I couldn't wait to get to the end. I felt like I'd burst if I didn't get the chance to see what happened.
Some might ask why I didn't jump online for some live action...you must understand that this was not an option as I'd received the game before official launch. The MS servers were offline, I checked!!!
As I continued pounding out level after level I found myself completely satisfied after the completion of each major task. The vehicles in this game are numerous and at times, I couldn't fight the urge to just drive around testing the capabilities of each mode of transport. Finally being able to fly an aircraft is a real treat I tell ya'. Very much so.
In summary, this is by far the best title in the Halo Series arsenal. Halo-lovers of old will be truly impressed with the visual attractiveness, SP & MP gameplay, and everything else it has to offer. New Halo gamers will be blown away by the sheer size of the game itself. Huge sprawling maps and improved AI make getting the job done quite a task. But everyone loves a challenge right?
Get this one if you haven't already! Three Thumbs Up!
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (game only)
Yeah Baby...ROCK IT! on March 06, 2008
I had a chance to kick the GH III tires this past Saturday at a competition I held for Halo 3 gamers. Not only did we get to play on an 8 foot screen but the sound system enabled us to ROCK THE HOUSE hard with this one! I was immediately confused by the new layout of the game right out of the box. It took me a few moments to figure out what was what but once I did, it was just like riding a bike. The new songs are needless to say, great. But I must admit I'd expected more. It's my own personal taste but I felt there were some key tunez missing from the track list. Sure, I'll still enjoy playing but who wouldn't. I just think that all of us would like to see a GH title with a lot of the stuff a lot of us expect. Still a great game made even greater by the inclusion of the wireless ax! Get Some!
Forza Motorsport 2
Great, but very difficult Racing Sim! on March 05, 2008
I know I know...it should be hard. I've heard it all before and I knew it when I decided to load it up for a play. Luckily, I won this one from Tropicana so I didn't feel too bad when I realized how NOT GOOD I was at this game. Don't get me wrong, die-hard sim fans will love it as the level of reality in the game is super-high. I remember watching a show on the making of where they intereviewed all the developers involved. The time and effort put into the realism was extensive and in my opinion... well worth it. Granted, I may not be very good at the game but that doesn't mean it's not a great game. The tracks are better, the cars more numerous and varied, the graphics totally kick ass and the customization options nearly endless. Oh yeah...for those of you like me who suck at this type of game, there's even an extensive selection of difficulty options which can seriously dumb down the skill required to advance through the game. Online racing is awesome of course...but be careful, those serious Forza racers out there don't take kindly to rubbin' when racing. Definitely worth the trade...if for no other reason then to see if you've got what it takes to finish the game! Enjoy!
Guitar Hero II
One for the whole Family! on August 02, 2007
I originally wanted to pick this game bundle up locally but soon realized there was no way I was going to pay retail. With that said, I browsed on over to everyone's favorite "free game" site and picked it up for next to nothin'. Once it arrived I could barely contain my giddiness. I ripped open the box, adjusted the strap and plugged in for an evening of hammering. Once you've created your band it's off you go. I soon found myself easily adapting to the feel of the Xplorer controller and before I knew it, I was 4 songs into my easy career. Granted, easy is very easy since there's only 3 fret buttons to worry about. As you progress through easy the songs get gradually more difficult but trust me, if you stick with it you'll be finished in no time! Next it's time for medium. The addition of a 4th fret button does add some difficulty but just like easy, you'll adapt rather quickly. If you can stick it out until the end of Medium you'll be rewarded with...SPOILER...Free Bird and a stage show fitting to the song itself. Although I've only just begun to experience hard, I did manage to go back and obtain 5-star ratings on every easy and medium track. I feel this will definitely help as I progress through hard and would recommend everyone at least try to get a 5-star rating on half or more of the medium songs as you'll be glad you did in preparation for the speed and frequency of notes on hard. Like some other reviewers, my Wife was clueless as to why I wanted this game. But she quickly became addicted herself once she picked up the XPlorer. Before I knew it she'd beaten easy and was half way through medium. My 7 year old has all but mastered the medium level as well. Even my 3 year old Daughter enjoys playing around in practice mode. I can say with confidence... This is truly a game for the entire family. Even the itty bitty ones who's fingers just aren't quite long enough will get a kick out of sitting back and taking in all the action. At my home, it's a family event when I plug in my XPlorer and crank up some Janes Addiction or rip up a few bars on a bonus track. You'd think the living room became a concert hall as my little ones clap in time to the music and dance around like crazy little chickens. When it comes to pros...the controller is rockin' kewl, graphic interface and game presentation are simple to understand and follow, the store rocks more characters, outfits, axes, and tracks to keep you busy long after beating the game and the optional track downloads available from the XBL marketplace. Cons...HARD IS REALLY HARD, character prices in the store are a tad high, no wireless ax, released too close to GT III release, no online co-op or vs. mode. As I said, GT II is a great family game and provides hours upon hours of fun. Whether your decorating your XPlorer or trying to score a few bucks to buy that last bonus track, you're sure to enjoy yourself starting with the moment you put this bad boy in your 360. Thanks fo

Just AWESOME!!! on August 02, 2007
As a previous fan of the Collin McRae series and TOCA series, I knew I'd love this title from Codemasters. Those guys really know what they're doing when it comes to racing sims. I found myself completely addicted once I managed to get an available copy from my local BB. Granted, I took the most linear approach available in the game and simply raced race after race through career mode until I finished with a total driving time of 7 hours and 22 minutes. Not bad I guess but don't forget, there's still tons of action to be had both online and in Championship mode. As far as pros...the graphics are beautiful, in game commentary is quite entertaining, vehicle selection is moderately large, games seems very true to life with regard to vehicle dynamics and tuning, stats provided for everything from jump height to longest distance on two wheels and number of rolls. Cons...A little easy in career mode unless racing at pro level, long load times, somewhat over-complicated navigation system. Overall I loved the game and enjoyed playing it through to the end. If you're a previous fan of the Collin McRae series of games, you'll love DiRT! I'd even go so far as to say the same for those of you who enjoyed TOCA Race Driver 2 & 3.
